To say our Grand Opening on February 29, 2012 was a success is putting it mildly. In a nutshell, here are the highlights:
- Our 100+ guests arrived early and stayed late (the chocolate fountain may have attributed to that)
- Stuff was flying off the walls (in a good way)
- We were told countless times how great our prices are.
To the Mayor of Oakville, Rob Burton, and Local and Regional Councillor, Alan Johnson, thank you for coming, cutting the ribbon, and posing for pictures. Special thanks to reporters and photographers from the Oakville Beaver and SNAP.
We'd also like to thank our community partner, David Di Sabatino, Executive Director of Kerr Street Ministries for attending.
To Debra D'Cunha of Sweet Confectionery, thank you for your generosity in donating your award winning and utterly delicious "macarons".
To Niki Brinton of Cupid's Cupcakes, thank you for bringing your mouth watering cupcakes. Yum!
And a BIG thank you to everyone who attended, sent us plants, flowers, fruit, champagne, art, get out of jail free passes, and generously donated food and funds.
We are thrilled to report that we amassed 155 pounds of food for Kerr Street Ministries. (That's like a whole person, you know!) We promised to match your donations pound for pound - and we did!
And last but not least, we held an in-store Treasure Hunt. It was wonderful to see so many people on the hunt for fabulous finds. The winners of the Treasure Hunt are (may we have a drum roll please):
1st Place: $50 It's a Steal Gift Certificate:
Adele Lapointe from Chaos to Clarity
2nd Place: $25 It's a Steal Gift Certificate:
Jim Sheldon (you lucky dog)
3rd Place: Guided Tour of the Store:
Catherine Wellman
We've got new stealicious finds all the time! Come buy and consign with us soon!
